GENTLE OSTEOPATHIC TREATMENT FOR EHLERS-DANLOS SYNDROME & POTS IN ST. GEORGE, UTAH

Fascial Counterstrain for Pain, Hypermobility & Autonomic Dysfunction

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Pain

EDS, POTS & Osteopathic Treatment

Why can a hypermobile body hurt so much?

EDS and hypermobility can make joints less stable. The surrounding muscles and fascia may respond by working harder to protect those joints, contributing to persistent tension, fatigue, and pain. Treatment is not about forcing already-mobile joints farther. The goal is to evaluate and gently address compensatory tension and other contributors to discomfort.

Why are EDS and POTS often discussed together?

POTS is a form of autonomic dysfunction. The autonomic nervous system helps regulate heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, temperature, and blood flow. Some people with EDS or hypermobility also experience dizziness, rapid heart rate, fatigue, digestive symptoms, or difficulty tolerating standing. These symptoms deserve appropriate medical evaluation and management.

Why might gentle Fascial Counterstrain be appropriate?

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment and Fascial Counterstrain use gentle positioning rather than aggressive stretching or forceful manipulation. Treatment may help address pain, protective muscle and fascial tension, and mechanical contributors involving tissues around nerves and blood vessels. Care is individualized to your comfort and stability.

What this care can—and cannot—do

We do not cure EDS, correct the underlying connective-tissue condition, or replace medical management of POTS. Osteopathic care is offered as an adjunct to appropriate primary-care and specialist treatment, with the aim of reducing some pain, tension, and functional limitations that may accompany these conditions.

Is this approach worth discussing?

If hypermobility-related pain, persistent tension, or POTS-associated symptoms are interfering with daily life, take the 20-second quiz to see how gentle OMT or Fascial Counterstrain may be a useful addition to your care.
