A core link of tough membrane exists between the base of the head and the tailbone, a sleeve of tissue surrounding the spinal cord like a tube. Because of this tube, tension in the head can result in tension of the sacrum and tailbone, and vice-versa. Tension in the head can come from trauma such as impact or collision, and in the sacrum from falls or birth trauma.
