SI JOINT PAIN AND SCIANTICA
The sacroiliac joint, or SI joint, is a very common place to have pain, especially in the setting of pregnancy, trauma, and connective tissue disorders resulting in hypermobile joints. Pain can be localized to the area of the low back or down the buttock and back of the leg. Left untreated, this joint can be a persistent and significant cause of pain, leading sufferers to avoid activities that they enjoy the most.
Sciatica, or compression of and pain in the sciatic nerve, can also be a significant cause of pain that radiates down the back of the leg. The cause of the pain is much different than that of the SI joint and must be treated differently. Fortunately, though, both SI joint pain and sciatic nerve pain can be treated successfully with osetopathic manipulation.
If you are bothered by radiating low back pain and are in need of relief, reach out to Essential Healing Center to see how osteopathic manipulation can help you!
